Within the last year of the PhD, PhD students must present a report on all the activities carried out and deliver the doctoral thesis.

Starting from the second year, the Ph.D student devotes themself to writing the research thesis, having the supervisors with a high scientific profile to support and supervise the work.

This is not teaching but individual work of the student.

Once a positive opinion has been obtained, the doctoral students are admitted to the final exam, which consists of a discussion of the doctoral thesis.

The defence of the thesis is open to the public and is held before a Commission appointed by the Rector.

If the candidate has developed a thesis in collaboration with a foreign university, the discussion will be organized according to the agreement established between the University of Turin and the foreign counterpart.
